airport redevelopment

Port Hedland International Airport will undergo a major $100 million redevelopment to create a modern and well-serviced airport that provides a welcoming gateway to the North West. Before take-off we're doing minor renovations to improve passenger flow and the terminal amenity.

Port Hedland

Port Hedland International Airport is your gateway to Western Australia’s North West and the booming Pilbara region. We accommodate 500,000 passengers every year and have nearly 70 flights a week with daily flights to Perth and direct weekly flights to Brisbane, Broome, Melbourne and Bali.

The Town of Port Hedland is currently reviewing the governance structure of the airport since 2013 and looking at options to see if there is a more efficient way of operating the airport – reviews have indicated that a long-term lease would be an appropriate model for our airport.
