Last week marked the first operations from Port Hedland International Airport’s dedicated Heliport facility, a first for Port Hedland and geared to meet the needs of the offshore oil and gas industry. 

The Town of Port Hedland and the Port Hedland International Airport (PHIA) is calling for an urgent
government response, as the Airport joins a long list of emerging sites across Australia identified as being
contaminated with PFAS (per-and polfluoroalkyl substance).
