We're working hard to deliver a revitalised airport which makes the Port Hedland community proud and has the ongoing capacity to service the burgeoning mining interests, oil and gas industry and diverse opportunities in the region. PHIA Group is committed to investing in the Port Hedland community’s airport asset to keep the region ‘open for business’ and ensure the airport maintains its safety and security standards while offering enhanced customer experiences to our community.
The Port Hedland International Airport is your Gateway to the Pilbara. The airport is located along the Great Northern Highway about 7 minutes drive from Port Hedland and South Hedland.
Accessible drop off, pickup and parking is close to the terminal. There are 2 mobility designated car parks at the terminal in the short term area and the free 2 minute Drop-off and Pick up zone is located adjacent to the terminal. Please ensure your mobility permit is clearly displayed.
Baggage trolleys are available free of charge in the terminal and from the trolley ramp located adjacent to the parking payment machine in the short term car park.
The designated smoking area is located in the airport forecourt (smoking is not permitted elsewhere, please respect other users and staff)
The aerodrome's public viewing access is closed at this time, due to construction works.
Customers are advised to use the pedestrian boulevard to and from the terminal
Drop off and pick up is nice and close, strictly 2 minutes only
Male and female toilets, shower, disabled toilets and parents room for all passengers to utilise.
Filtered water is available next to the Qantas check in counters.
The Airport Bar & Cafe is located in the Departures Lounge of the Terminal (after security). The cafe offers indoor and outdoor seating areas and serves fresh coffee, cold beverages, alcoholic beverages and a selection of hot food, sandwiches, cakes, snacks, confectionery and magazines. Dine-in or grab on the go - there's free parking available.
The Airport Bar & Cafe opens at specific times, around scheduled flights;
- For 60 minutes prior to each flight arrival, and;
- For 30 minutes after each flight departure.
Refer to the airline scheduled flights.
Passengers and visitors to the Airport also have access to Red Vend vending machines in the Terminal offering a range of chilled, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. The machines accept card payments only.
There is no public transport to the Airport. Chartered busses can be arranged through your accommodation to get you to and from the airport. Alternatively, you can book a taxi or rent a car from the Airport.
Short and long-term parking is available in the airport precinct. Many companies run chartered bus lines.
Designated Rideshare and Taxi zones are located in the bus, taxi and rideshare car park, located off the terminal forecourt, for pick ups only.

Taxi's service the airport – you can book them directly on 08 9140 1313 (OzTaxis), 08 9173 1010 (Hedland Taxis) or 08 9172 1010 (South Hedland Taxis).
Rideshare
Rideshare operates from the bus, taxi and rideshare car park.
