The Government of Western Australia has declared a State Of Emergency and a Public Health Emergency in response to COVID-19 coronavirus. Port Hedland International Airport is open for the transportation of people and freight as defined by the WA Government. For further information please visit wa.gov.au

Port Hedland International Airport has actioned measures to support our community to help stop the spread. These include; 

  • Public address system reminders about hygiene and social distancing
  • Working with resource companies to support their FIFO travelling workforce
  • More than 300 social distancing stickers applied to seating and queuing areas
  • COVID-19 related signage throughout the terminal
  • International lounge area opened to provide more seating, toilets and space 
  • Working closely with WAPOL and other agencies to implement measures under the WA State Emergency Act 
  • Monitoring activity and reminding airport users about social distancing and effective hygiene
  • Removed car park equipment touchpoints and implemented free parking 
  • Collaborating with bus and taxi operators to help them operate effectively and safely
  • Regular communications updates, via web and social media channels
  • Electronic road signage with social distancing and safety reminders
  • Self-check-in stands are turned off to reduce touchpoints
  • Airport Bar and Cafe is closed
  • Increased cleaning protocols and staffing levels across the airport site
  • Hire car kiosks have relocated outside of the terminal 
  • Protective equipment issued to screening personnel
