$1000 Travel Adventure Up for Grabs

28 November 2012

Fancy a seven day escape to Bali? A four star experience in Exmouth? Would you like your artwork to be on display at the Port Hedland International Airport?

All of this could be possible if you take out the Port Hedland International Airport’s art and story competition and win a $1000 travel voucher from Harvey World Travel.

Mayor Kelly Howlett reminded students to get their entry in by Thursday 6 December – the deadline had been extended following request from some schools.

“We want to give students the best possible chance at creating a master piece about their favourite thing about airports,” Mayor Howlett said.

“We’ve already received some great entries full of colour and memorable travel adventures.

“It really is an exciting competition with winning entries set to go on show at the airport and published in the North West Telegraph

“We want to hear what Hedland’s young people think about the airport – what is your favourite thing about airports? What do you love most about travelling? Is it checking in? Handing over your boarding pass? Watching planes land and takeoff?

“At the end of the competition, we will have a collection of great images which we will be able to proudly display at the airport for visitors and residents to see.

"There are some great prizes on offer, including a $1000 travel voucher from Harvey World Travel, $250 vouchers for Smirkey Sports and Stingaz Surf & Skate and Qantas caps are also up for grabs.”

Harvey World Travel South Hedland manager Flo Bennett said she was pleased to be able to support the competition.

“The airport is our gateway into the region and we are proud to offer $1000 travel voucher for the winning entry,” Ms Bennett said.

“With $1000 the winner will be able to choose from a range of fantastic adventures – perhaps a seven day Bali getaway including airfares, four nights in Broome, or a return airfare to Geraldton with accommodation.

“The voucher could also take the winner to Perth for a big city escape or to Exmouth to play in the world heritage listed Ningaloo Reef.”
