Port Hedland International Airport’s overhaul will take off next month with the appointment of Town of Port Hedland Airport Redevelopment Program Director, Mr Brett Reiss.
Mayor Kelly Howlett said Mr Reiss brings exceptional experience and skills to the role and congratulated him on his appointment.
“I would like to congratulate Brett on his appointment to the role of Airport Redevelopment Program Director,” she said.
“He comes highly recommended with a strong background in leading, planning and delivery of projects.
“Brett will be responsible for leading the redevelopment of Port Hedland International Airport – a key initiative for the Town with more than $70 million being allocated to the project over the next five years.
“Our vision is to create a modern and well-serviced airport that provides a welcoming gateway to the North West – this is a vision that Brett is very well qualified to deliver and I look forward to working with him on the airport’s redevelopment."
Mr Reiss said he was honoured to be appointed as Airport Redevelopment Program Director.
“It’s an exciting time for Port Hedland and I’m thrilled to be part of the airport’s redevelopment,” Mr Reiss.
“I’m looking forward to working with clients, stakeholders and the community over the coming months to understand the airport’s challenges and opportunities and build a redevelopment program that will deliver a modern and well-serviced airport for Port Hedland."
Mr Reiss is currently at Adelaide Airport, was CEO at Hobart International Airport and has previously held senior executive roles at Christchurch International Airport and Northern Territory Airports (Darwin).
With extensive experience in airport property development, commercial property, sub-division and airport expansion programs, Mr Reiss has delivered key projects such as:
- Development of the $200 million terminal expansion program at Christchurch International Airport
- Commercial land use master planning for a 440 hectare commercial subdivision at Christchurch International Airport
- Negotiation of long-term airline partnership for Hobart Airport, delivering positive revenue outcomes for the airport and airline operator
- Oversight and completion of Hobart Airport’s Master Plan renewal and Airport Environment Strategy renewal, mapping the 20 year strategic direction for the development of the airport
Mr Reiss will commence with the Town of Port Hedland on 20 May 2013 on a two year contract.
