Port Headland International Airport Promotes Connectivity

29 July 2016

Port Hedland International Airport’s connectivity to the eastern states of Australia, International ports and Intrastate links is well established. Thinking differently about the possibilities, especially for international connections when flying directly from Port Hedland International Airport; you can fly on Saturday afternoon directly from Port Hedland and be in Singapore for a late dinner, Sunday breakfast in London or lunch in New York the next day.

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of PHIA Operating Company, Mitchell Cameron, said “we will work with tourism partners to pursue opportunities to benefit the community and business, by encouraging additional air traffic to and from Port Hedland. To promote our point of difference we have added ‘Gateway to the Pilbara’ to our current logo which points to the fact that everyone from the Pilbara and surrounding areas have Port Hedland International Airport as their Airlink to the eastern states of Australia, International ports and intrastate connections”.

Port Hedland International Airport is the only airport north of Perth offering direct flights to Brisbane, Melbourne, and Bali. The direct routes from Port Hedland International Airport present safety, time and cost benefits. Passengers can fly directly to an event down south or over east, visit family and friends or take a well-deserved international holiday break and the direct flights from Port Hedland International Airport get you there efficiently.

Mitchell Cameron is promoting connectivity examples such as departing from Port Hedland International Airport on Saturday afternoon and being 7 hours away from dinner in Singapore or being in London for breakfast or New York for lunch on Sunday. “Passengers can connect over Denpasar to London or New York and have their bags booked right through to their end destination.”

The Port Hedland International Airport sponsored a recent Hedland Economic & Resources Forum Event, keynote speaker, PHIA Group Chairman, the Hon. Cheryl Edwardes explained, “We recognise the potential as the Gateway to the Pilbara, and look forward to working on the transformation of this important community asset”. Ms Edwardes stated that the development of a new Master Plan is underway, to improve the airport by committing to a $40m capital improvement programme over the next five years.

The PHIA Group will be communicating the benefits and efficiencies of flying from Port Hedland International Airport to the world. More information will be on our website shortly.
