Rod is familiar with Port Hedland and the Pilbara having operated the Port Hedland International Airport on previous occasions in the 1990s and more recently 2006. “I have a history with PHIA and I’m excited to return and be a part of the transformation and redevelopment of the airport.

My wife Debbie and I are looking forward to being Port Hedland residents again, as we’ve raised children and grandchildren here and enjoy the inspiring landscape and vibrant community”. PHIA Group Chairman, the Hon. Cheryl Edwardes, said that the appointment is timely given the imminent commencement of major development projects for Port Hedland International Airport.

Mr Evans has been working in an acting capacity since May this year. His focus has been on team development, preparations for the release of PHIA’s 20-year Master Plan and Land Use Report, apron and runway works and readiness for an array of operational projects.

PHIA Group’s underlying investors, managed by AMP Capital and Infrastructure Capital Group, are preeminent Australian infrastructure investors committed to investing in the Port Hedland International Airport with the goal of it becoming one of Australia’s best regional airports.”
